Credit offered through Continuing & Professional Education is resident University of Massachusetts Amherst credit unless otherwise stated.

Maximum Allowable Credit

Continuing & Professional Education undergraduate students may earn no more than 11 credits per semester.

Exceptions: To request an exception to the maximum credit policy, complete an Overload Petition form , available online or at the Continuing and Professional Education Advising Office at 100 Venture Way, Hadley, MA.

An exception is granted for one semester only. Undergraduate students who wish to study full time (12 credits or more per semester) on a regular basis should apply for admission to a degree-granting program.
