Who can enroll in Continuing & Professional Education courses? Anyone with a high school degree or certificate of General Educational Development (GED) may register for Continuing & Professional Education undergraduate courses (except as restricted by policies governing academic status*). Exceptions may be made for high school students with written permission of their guidance counselor and parent or guardian. * In accordance with UMass Amherst policy, UMass Amherst students under academic suspension, academic dismissal, or trespassed from the UMass Amherst campus may not enroll in courses through Continuing & Professional Education. Non-degree students: Students not currently enrolled in a degree program may enroll in individual Continuing & Professional Education courses as a non-degree student. Enrolling in Continuing & Professional Education courses does not imply admission to UMass Amherst. Degree students: Students wishing to obtain a degree must apply for admission through UMass Amherst Undergraduate Admissions, UMass Amherst Graduate Admissions, or Continuing & Professional Education. For more information, see Admissions to Degree Programs/Matriculation. Credit toward your university undergraduate degree: You may apply a maximum of 15 Continuing & Professional Education course credits completed prior to matriculation into a degree program toward the 45 residence credits required for graduation. Grades earned in Continuing & Professional Education courses will not count toward your grade point average. Credits will be evaluated by Transfer Admissions at the time of admission. There may be restrictions on the application of certain Continuing & Professional Education courses toward your undergraduate degree requirements. Please contact your program department for more information on restrictions. |
