Add-Drop and Withdrawal Information for Credit Classes Print E-mail

To add a class before the Add/Drop deadline (all students):

  1. Submit a registration request online. Note: this option is only available until one day before the end of add/drop for the class.

    Or

  2. Complete the Credit class registration form for the appropriate term (available below) or at the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office.
    Submit the completed, signed form to the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office in one of the following ways:

    • In Person — bring your form to the CPE Records and Registration Office, 100 Venture Way, Suite 201, Hadley, MA
    • Mail — send your form to the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office, 100 Venture Way, Suite 201, Hadley, MA 01035-9430. Note: the postmark is considered the date of add
    • Fax — fax your form to 413-545-0513.

To add a class after the Add/Drop deadline:

  • No adds are allowed after the semester midpoint.
  • Late add classes must be paid for in full at registration. A $60.00 late fee will be charged for each registration processed after the add/drop deadline.
Graduate students:
Complete a Graduate Late Add/Drop form pdf icon . Students matriculated into a degree program must have the form signed by both the class instructor and their Graduate Program Director before submitting. Non-degree students must have the form signed by the class instructor and by a Continuing & Professional Education Advisor.

Undergraduate Students:
Complete a Late Add Petition pdf icon stating the reason for late registration along with written permission and/or verification of attendance from the instructor.

Drops and Withdrawals

  • Notifying the instructor or ceasing to attend class does not constitute an official drop or withdrawal.
  • Changing from one section to another of the same class is considered both a drop and an add.
  • Refunds are given for classes dropped during the refund period if procedures are followed. For more information, see the Refund Schedule and Calendar.
  • A class dropped after the add/drop deadline is considered a withdrawal and therefore not entitled to a refund; it cannot be used to pay for a late add class.

To drop a class before the Add/Drop deadline:

Note: Classes dropped before the Add/Drop deadline will not show on transcripts.
  1. Submit a drop request online, using the Electronic Drop form

  2. Complete the Credit class registration form available online or at the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office.

    Submit the completed, signed form to the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office in one of the following ways:

To withdraw from a class during the Withdrawal period:

Note: Classes dropped during the Withdrawal period will show a grade of "DR" (graduate students) or "W" (undergraduate students) on the transcript.

Graduate students:
Complete a Graduate Late Add/Drop form pdf icon, obtaining Instructor signature before submitting.

Submit the completed, signed form to the Continuing & Professional Education Records and Registration Office in one of the following ways:

To withdraw from a class after the Withdrawal period ends (Late Withdrawal):

Note: Classes dropped after the Withdrawal period ends will show a grade of "WP" or "WF" for graduate students and "W" for undergraduate students on the transcript.

Graduate students:
