Stranger than Pandora, real life is surprising, elegant and bizarre. In "Reel Life" you will see yourself that sex is not required for reproduction, the White Cliffs Dover are old air, communities integrate to become individuals, bacteria are fundamental units of life. Moving images, silent or musically accompanied, from submicroscopic to satellite levels will be screened. "The Earth is Indivisible" as V.I. Vernadsky, LL. McHarg and J.E. Lovelock all showed. Narration-discussion of moving images of natural geobiological phenomena led by instructors (Drs. Michael Dolan, Bruce Scofield and Lynn Margulis). Students assigned interpretation of important scientific phenomena via brief written video reviews and one short oral presentation. Beyond curiosity and interest in science and nature there are no perquisites. Not for major credits. Meets w/GEO-SCI 291F.
