Important: Notifying the instructor or ceasing to attend class does not constitute an official drop or withdrawal. You must officially drop your class by the end of Add/Drop in order to be eligible for a removal of charges.  Please see our payment/refund policy for more information.

Billing information will be sent to your UMass email account. If you don't have a UMass email account, billing information will be sent to the email address that we have on file. Bills are usually generated once/month, so you may not receive one immediately upon enrollment in a class. Charges for Fall or Spring classes will begin appearing in SPIRE about 6-8 weeks prior to the beginning of the term. Paper bills will not be generated.

NOTE: Bills will not be generated on accounts with a zero balance.

Forms of payment accepted:

  • Cash
  • Check: Make payable to the University of Massachusetts and include your name and Student ID number. Checks can be mailed to: UMass Bursar's Office Attn: CPE, 215 Whitmore Bldg, 181 President's Dr., Amherst, MA 01003
  • Credit Card

Nonpayment: Overdue bills may result in administrative withdrawal and referral to a collection agency, plus collection costs.
