What are university-scheduled classes?
Classes that are listed as being offered in university sessions in the “Schedule of Classes” on SPIRE for the Fall and Spring terms. Please see below for additional information regarding who can register through CPE, how to register and class fees.
Who can register for university-scheduled classes through CPE and how much do they cost?
Non-degree undergraduates and students in undergraduate degree programs offered through CPE (e.g. UWW or BGS). Class fees for these students vary by class depending on whether the credit is undergraduate or graduate.
Undergraduate class: $371.00 per credit
Graduate class: $438.00 per credit
Additional fees: Curriculum fee: $196.00 per credit Registration fee: $45.00 per term (non-refundable)
All graduate students, including non-degree graduates, should visit the Graduate School (Goodell building) to register for these classes. Class fees for all graduate students are determined by the Bursar's Office. Click here for more information.
How do I register for university-scheduled classes?
Students in undergraduate degree programs offered through CPE: Enroll directly in SPIRE. All standard prerequisite and other enrollment restrictions apply. If problems, contact the CPE Registration Office at 413-545-3653 or go to 100 Venture Way, Room 238, Hadley. Registration for university-scheduled classes begins on the first day of the CPE registration period. See academic calendar for exact dates.
Non-degree undergraduate students: A list of classes is posted HERE on the day before class registration opens for non-degree students (one week before classes start). Non-degree students may only take classes from the list, except by instructor permission. Registration begins one week before classes start (see academic calendar for exact dates). To register, contact the CPE Registration Office at 413-545-3653 or go to 100 Venture Way, Room 238, Hadley.
Registration for classes that don't appear on the list require instructor permission. Exception: Permission is not required for MATH & STATISTICS, if space is available. To register, complete the Permission Form (see instructions on form) and bring it to the CPE Registration Office, 100 Venture Way, Room 238, Hadley. Students can NOT register for restricted classes until the first day of classes.
Graduate students (including non-degree): Visit the Graduate School (Goodell building) to register for classes.
UMass Amherst undergraduates - Students who are pursuing a UMass Amherst bachelor’s degree are expected to enroll in regularly scheduled university classes.
