How to Enroll

This course will focus on fundamental principles of design used in creating landscapes and garden spaces and composing planting designs using a complement of woody and herbaceous plants.  Plant knowledge will be helpful, though a plant review will be part of each session.  The class will have a strong focus on horticulture and will examine the interrelationships among the environment, landscape site conditions, and horticultural practices that are needed to make sustainable landscapes.  Many landscape case studies, showing before and after transitions will help make concrete the abstract ideas of scale, balance and focus. Participants will explore this creative design process in group studio sessions, finding design solutions to compose captivating landscapes with a long season of beauty.  This class will tune your landscape design acumen and expand your plant palette with a broad season of garden possibilities. Part of the MA Horticultural Society.
