How to Enroll

This is a practical course for those interested in real estate for professional or personal reasons. This course is required for those who want to take the Real Estate Salesperson's License Examination and is highly recommended for those who anticipate involvement in personal real estate transactions. In this course you will: be introduced to real estate as a business, new career, or opportunity; learn the provisions of the Massachusetts Licensing Law and Realtor Code of Ethics; learn about interests in real property and liens, easements, and other encumbrances to ownership; study government limitations to ownership - planning and zoning and eminent domain; study deeds, transfers, property descriptions and title evidence; learn the essentials of a valid real estate contract; learn the elements of a title closing statement and calculate closing costs; be introduced to market value appraisal; study real estate finance, mortgage types, sources of money and practice simple financial calculations; learn about the types of home ownership (one family homes, condominiums, cooperatives, and others); be introduced to real estate as an investment. License application and license test-taking information are distributed upon course completion. The laws of the state of Massachusetts require that those seeking a real estate salesperson's license must attend an approved course in "Real Estate Principles" of at least 40 classroom hours prior to sitting for the state/national examination. The course described above meets this requirement.
